On Monday June 8th we kicked off our 5th annual Art Exploration Program at Hope Academy! This is a four-week program for 65 middle school students and 10 high school students with classes in visual art, photography, theater, music and video. The program runs June 8 – July 2 with a special Community Showcase Celebration 7pm July 1st at Hope Academy. The Showcase is open to the public and students will present and perform the art they have created during the program.
Artist Mentors for this year’s program are:
Sarah Albinson – Visual Art
Sarah Ascanio – Photography (assistant – Stephanie Aquino)
Joyce Marrie – Theater
Ben Kelly – Music
Matt Abeler – Video
For the first 2 weeks Artist Mentors are working together in the IA studios (Joyce Marrie and her Theater interns Evana and Josselin are at Crossroads Panorama for Youth). Weeks 3-4 will be with the middle schoolers at Hope Academy and the student interns will become the class assistants.
“This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.â€
