Meet Artist Mentor Henry Aol. Henry is a talented Kenyan artist, photographer, teacher at Mathare Community Outreach (MCO) and has been part of our Mathare Art Camp team for the last two years. It is such an honor to work with and learn from Henry! This year we were excited to donate another 3 digital cameras, printer ink, photo paper and batteries to MCO for Henry’s photography work with the students.
Get to know more about Henry:
Hi. My name is Henry Aol. I am married to one wife, and the third born in a family of seven. Photography is another form of art for me. You can be as creative as possible as long as you  have the ideas; for sure creativity is in our DNA. My work is inspired by personal feeling with things around me, things happening in the world that people are very much unaware of. Through my work I seek to inform, make a statement, discuss or argue, and I always seek to promote a reaction.
All in all  I love what I do and spend a lot of time refining, perfecting and even obsessing over my work; it is a passion.
If you ask me my type of photography, I can’t really tell you. I strive to go beyond an aesthetic sense to create a captivating image. The measure of how good I am is through the work of my students who I mentor, their expression and experience.
All this has been possible through partners like Inverted Arts, Safari.com, Sanaa, and Art without Borders, who have provided a platform though which this form of art could be expressed. I must say, without Inverted Arts, the practical aspect of photography would have not been possible.
