2015 IA Scholarship and Art Teacher Funds

IMG_9966We are excited to unveil our 2015 IA Scholarship and Art Teacher Funds! The program launched in 2014 with scholarships for two students and funding for an Art Teacher in Mathare Valley, Kenya in partnership with Mathare Community Outreach (MCO). In addition to renewing current funding, we are adding a scholarship for a student in the Dominican Republic and one from Hope Academy in Minneapolis.

The mission of Inverted Arts is to empower disadvantaged youth by helping them discover their creative voices. The purpose of the IA Scholarship Fund is to invest in the artistic and academic development of former students and interns with the hope that scholarship students will return to their communities and invest in the creative potential of the younger students there. The purpose of the Art Teacher Fund is to support the salary of Art Teachers who can inspire and empower student creativity throughout the year.


Mathare Valley, Kenya with MCO

2 students – $1,000/year each for up to four years

1 Art Teacher Salary Support – $2,500/year on going

Santo Domingo, DR with Kristin and Joselo Wolford and Mundo De Fe

1 student – $1,000/year for up to four years

Minneapolis, MN with Hope Academy

1 student – $2,500/year for up to four years

Total IA Commitment $8,000/year


General Criteria:

Student graduates with a High School diploma from partner institution (or other local high school) with a minimum grade level requirement.

Student enrolls in an accredited college for 2-4 year program

Priority given to students pursuing the arts

Selection:

After open application process, award recipient is selected by partner committee and approved by IA

Expectations:

Student maintains grade level requirements

Student serves as Artist Mentor assistant at annual Art Camp or Art Exploration program

Student completes progress update three times per year.
