Art With Us

“For Daunte Wright | Art With Us”

It’s been a difficult week to say the least. In response to the tragic killing of Daunte Wright, Artist Mentor Raygen Samone hosted “Art With Us” at the Inverted Arts Studio in order to provide space for students and families to process their feelings and emotions through art.

Raygen writes, “I’m convinced that it is the artist’s duty to reflect the times. That it is, in fact, our responsibility. My privilege. Children and adults in Minneapolis joined me at Inverted Arts this week in reflecting on the loss of Daunte Wright through art. Some moving from numbness to anger, others from anger to sadness; some too young to know anything is wrong. Oh, that we may prepare a world more just for them. Rest In Peace, young king.”

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
