We just wrapped up our fourteenth summer Art Exploration Program at Hope Academy in South Minneapolis! This year we offered five creative options for one hundred middle school students: photography, music production, spoken word, theater, and dance. Our team of Artist Mentors included: Elliot Malcolm – photography, Pierre Fulford – music production, Joe Davis – spoken word, Betsy Mills – theater, and LaBreesha Saulsberry – dance. Each class also had a high school intern and a Hope staff assistant. The two-week program concluded with a Showcase event July 3rd and some of the classes even staged a wedding between teachers so the photographers could learn how to shoot a wedding event!
