FFA Art Camp
November 17th–22nd, 2025 | Buruburu Estate, Nairobi
By Seth Luchemos – IA Kenya Director
The November edition of the Friends Fellowship Assembly (FFA) Art Camp was held from 17th to 22nd November in Buruburu Estate, Nairobi, bringing together 65 children for a week of creativity, mentorship, and faith-centered inspiration. Continuing our overarching theme, “Grateful Heart, Gifted Hands,” the camp provided a vibrant environment for young artists to explore and develop their talents across multiple art disciplines. This camp once again demonstrated the transformational power of arts education in shaping confident, skilled, and purpose-driven young people.
Program Overview
This year’s camp featured four major learning tracks, each designed to give students practical, hands-on experience.
1. Music (Songwriting, Instruments & Recording) – Students learned keyboard, guitar, ukulele, and drum-set basics. A group of participants composed an original song, which was professionally recorded during the camp. Mentors guided them through songwriting, vocal arrangement, and instrument practice— sparking newfound confidence and teamwork.
2. Arts & Crafts – Participants explored creativity through: creating personalized sketchbooks, canvas painting, building a creative photo-booth backdrop, and beadwork, where children made colorful wristbands. This track helped students strengthen their design skills while embracing gratitude and self-expression.
3. Photography & Videography – The photography team went beyond expectations: they practiced professional photoshoot techniques, improved photo editing and visual storytelling skills, worked on framing, lighting, composition, and post-production. Their growth was visible in the quality of images captured throughout the camp.
4. Dance – The dance group choreographed original routines that beautifully blended creativity, discipline, and the camp’s gratitude theme. Their final performances showcased teamwork, cultural expression, and artistic excellence.
Faith & Devotional Moments
Each day began with a devotion led by FFA Lead Pastors Benson and Claris Okeyo. Using the theme verse 1 Thessalonians 5:18, they encouraged the children to: recognize their gifts as God-given, grow as responsible and thankful young artists, and use their talents to uplift others. These sessions anchored the camp spiritually, helping students connect their creativity with faith and purpose.
Showcase Day – November 22nd
The camp culminated in a vibrant Saturday Showcase, where parents and friends gathered in large numbers to celebrate the children’s achievements. The event featured live music performances, dance presentations, an art display gallery, photography exhibits, and a listening session for the newly recorded original song. The joy, pride, and excitement among families affirmed the importance of nurturing art in the next generation.
