Kenyan Artist Mentors Shine!

This year’s seventh annual Mathare Art Camp was the fulfillment of a long-term dream we’ve shared with our partners at Mathare Community Outreach (MCO). All the Art Camp classes were led by ten talented Kenyan Artist Mentors who have all been part of the MCO family either as students, staff or both. Of these ten Artist Mentors, six are Inverted Arts Scholarship recipients! Our MN team was honored to serve as class assistants. It was remarkable to witness this dream come true and to watch the unique and amazing ways these mentors poured themselves into the students during the week. The Kenyan team is working hard to develop a plan for year-round Art Camp classes with the goal that our 2018 visit will focus on a Showcase celebration of the year-round activity. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
