Liberia Art Camp 2026
By James Prowd – Art Camp Director
We are grateful for this year’s edition of the Inverted Arts/Mission of Hope annual Art Camp. The much anticipated Camp was marked by young children bringing their talents and gifts to life through diverse arts disciplines. This year’s edition, which was centered around the theme “What’s Right With You?” is one of the best camps we’ve had. There were five basic disciplines: Visual Arts, Graphic Design/Video and Photography, Cosmetology, Pastry, and Music.
The Music department was headed by our fresh graduate Elizabeth Neste and Miracle Kollie, a young Choir teacher from our community. The guys that chose the Music department enjoyed every bit from the keyboard chords mastery to the vocal training. They composed and sang a song for the camp.
While the Pastry section was headed by Annie Clinton for the first time, they had a lot of fun. They prepared different kinds of food stuff from bread, doughnuts to pig in the blanket, etc.
Marthaline Kollie and Odell Tarr both headed the Cosmetology department. They made the kids make each other’s hair and nails.
Daniel Kapu and Venesa Pewee headed the Visual Arts part of the camp. They made hand crafts, painted canvas, and made decorative materials for home decor.
Madison Kangar, Joseph Wilson and James Prowd headed the Video and Photography section. The kids took pictures of the entire event. They also filmed a drama entitled, “Hidden Talents.”
To summarize, the camp was full of excitement and joy. The Music class added new flavor, and Cosmetology is always a point of attraction for the female students. Thank you to everyone who supported this Art Camp, helping us unleash creativity and talent at the Mission of Hope for the Disabled in Liberia!
