MCE Art Camp – Kenya

By Seth Luchemos – Art Camp Director – Recreation Factory

From August 4th-8th, Mathare Children’s Education hosted 70 talented teens for a week-long Art Camp under the theme “Ignite Your Spark.” The camp was a vibrant space where young people explored creativity, faith, and community. Each day combined hands-on skill training with spiritual devotionals that encouraged campers to shine their light and use their gifts for God’s glory. Campers engaged in specialized sessions across seven creative areas: Music, Dance, Visual Art, Photography & Videography, Fashion and Hairdressing.

Throughout the week, campers gained confidence in using and presenting their gifts, experienced spiritual growth through daily devotionals rooted in the theme “Ignite Your
Spark,” and advanced their skills with guidance from dedicated mentors.

The Art Camp culminated in a colorful final day Showcase, where parents and friends
joined to celebrate what the teens had learned. Performances, exhibitions, and creative
displays highlighted the incredible progress campers made in just five days.
Guest preachers and artists — including Pastor Samukat (preacher & singer), Pastor Ben,
and Pastor Claris (singer) — shared inspiring messages, reminding teens to keep shining
their light and to use their talents with courage and purpose.

The MCE Art Camp 2025 was more than just a training program, it was a platform for
transformation. Teens left empowered to live out their God-given gifts and to shine
brightly in their schools, communities, and beyond.
