MCE October Art Camp

By Seth Luchemos – Camp Director

The MCE October Art Camp was an inspiring and impactful week bringing together young creatives to explore, refine, and celebrate their God-given gifts under the theme “Grateful Hearts, Gifted Hands.”

Through classes in music, dance, fashion, hairdressing, art and craft, photography, and video production, students not only advanced their creative skills but also deepened their understanding of gratitude, contentment, and service through daily devotionals.

The camp provided a nurturing environment where creativity met faith — reminding every participant that their talents are gifts from God to be used for His glory and the good of others.

Music– Students continued sharpening their keyboard and ukulele skills. Guided by their mentor, they collaboratively wrote and recorded a class song inspired by the camp’s theme, “Gratitude (Asante).” This process allowed them to practically express thanksgiving through music and teamwork.

Art and Craft – The art class demonstrated remarkable creativity and innovation. They made personal sketchbooks, beaded wristbands, and painted canvases that expressed joy and thankfulness. They also designed and constructed a Christmas photo booth, adding a festive and imaginative touch to the camp’s showcase.

Fashion Design – The fashion class focused on practical and creative projects, learning how to make aprons for the art students — a meaningful act of collaboration. They also refined their designing and modeling skills, blending creativity with confidence and purpose.

Hairdressing – Students in this class enhanced their professional skills by learning hair twisting, washing, dyeing, conditioning, and gel styling. Their growing competence reflected discipline, artistry, and a heart of service.

Dance – The dance team developed a creative choreography that told a story, illustrating gratitude through movement. What stood out most was the students’ ownership — they helped design the music mix and dance moves themselves, guided by their mentor. The performance became a vibrant expression of unity and joy.

Photography and Video – This class delved deeper into photo and video editing, with students taking the lead in creating visual content. Their ability to independently edit footage was a highlight, showcasing growing confidence and technical mastery. Their work captured the essence of the camp and the spirit of gratitude that filled every moment.

Outcomes:

  • Students grew in creative skill, confidence, and collaboration.
  • Devotionals encouraged spiritual reflection, linking faith to art.
  • The theme of gratitude was evident in how students supported and celebrated one another.
  • Many students created tangible projects — songs, art pieces, fashion items, videos — that reflected both creativity and thankfulness

The MCE October Art Camp was a beautiful testimony of how art and faith intersect. Through creativity, community, and devotion, participants learned that gratitude is not only an attitude but a lifestyle that fuels creativity and purpose.

The week ended a show case joined by parents and friends, with hearts full of joy, hands filled with creations, and minds inspired to continue shining for God’s glory — truly saying “Asante” for the gifts He has placed within us all.

Regards,

Seth Luchemos
