Kenyan Business Partner Retreat

What a gift to be able to spend time with our Kenyan Business Partners Seth Luchemo, Yvonne Asunnah, and Kevin Fraji (L-R above) at Brackenhurst Conference Center in Limuru, Kenya last month. After three years limited to online communication due to covid, it was so good to be together again!

Each of these talented entrepreneurs started as students and assistants at Mathare Art Camp (watch “Thirteen Years” video), received Inverted Arts scholarships, and now lead their own businesses. It’s impressive to see how far they’ve come and we’re so proud of their accomplishments! As business partners we have committed to investing in their business startups for the first five years, with the goal of helping them become self-sustaining by year six. Yvonne has just completed her five years and Seth and Kevin are in year two. Our Kenyan advisor and partner Dotun Modupe joined us for the retreat and the five of us spent extended times of personal encouragement, prayer and updates, as well as sharing business reports, needs, short and long-term plans, best practices, and reviewing the basics of accounting, marketing, communication and administration.

In addition to running their own businesses and leading the annual Mathare Art Camp, Seth, Yvonne and Kevin are developing new partnerships at the Kariobangi Children’s Home, Upendo Orphanage, Mathare Children’s Education, and are working on even more for 2024!

Thank you for investing in these amazing leaders who are using their creativity to bring transformation to their communities!
