Mathare Art Camp 2016

DSCN0174Our team of Artist Mentors is headed back to Kenya this week for Mathare Art Camp 2016 in partnership with Mathare Community Outreach! The camp runs April 11-15 with a Community Showcase on the 15th and features classes in photography, video, music, visual art and fashion design. This year’s team includes Sarah Albinson, Jason Dyer, James and Mark Collier and we will be assisting Kenyan Artist IMG_1470Mentors Henry Aol, Rose Simbiri, Philister Miruka, Winny Raphael Otieno, and Seth Luchemos. We are especially excited about the fashion design class, which is a first for us in Mathare! IA scholarship recipient Philister Miruka will teach students how to design a simple garment and students will present a runway fashion show at the Showcase. Another first will be a lino block cut class led by Sarah Albinson with tools that can be left behind for year-round creativity and production! Stay tuned for extreme creativity from the talented students of Mathare!
