MCE Art Camp – April

By Seth Luchemos – Art Camp Director and IA Business Partner

The MCE Art Camp was a vibrant five-day event that brought together 75 young
creatives to explore, learn, and express themselves through the arts. With great joy, we
report a highly successful camp filled with learning, collaboration, and spiritual growth.
Our theme was, “Let Your Light Shine,” encouraging every student to step into their identity, use their gifts, and shine brightly for God and their community.

Program Highlights
Arts & Crafts – Students explored a variety of crafts, drawing, and painting. Their creativity culminated in a collaborative canvas painting, which was presented as a heartfelt gift to the MCE
management. The class nurtured fine motor skills, patience, and visual storytelling.
Music – Focusing on keyboard, ukulele, songwriting, and singing, the music students
composed and recorded a beautiful original song inspired by the week’s theme. This
piece was showcased during the final day, capturing hearts and echoing the message of
shining one’s light through song.
Dance – Our dance students embraced a range of music genres, learning diverse moves and
techniques. Their energy, discipline, and teamwork were evident during their final
performance—an uplifting and joyful celebration of movement.
Fashion – Students in the fashion class continued refining their skills in machine sewing, design,
and pattern making. This time, they created custom Tote Bags, which some sold during the final day showcase. The class emphasized creativity, entrepreneurship, and confidence in presenting one’s work.
Photo/Video – These students had the exciting task of documenting the camp—taking photos,
recording videos, conducting interviews, and editing their work. Their behind-the-scenes
efforts not only captured lasting memories but also honed their technical and storytelling
skills.
Hairdressing – Introduced for the first time, this class was met with great excitement. Students learned basic hair care, washing, color dying, braiding, and hair shaving. The class
provided hands-on, practical skills and built confidence in exploring a new craft.

The final day was a celebration of creativity, growth, and community. Parents, friends,
and supporters were invited to witness performances, exhibits, and the premiere of the
music class’s original song. It was a joyful time filled with laughter, pride, and heartfelt
applause.

We are deeply grateful to all of you whose generosity made this camp
possible! Your support enabled us to equip students with tools, materials, and
mentorship that are shaping their lives and futures. Most importantly, you helped create
a space where each child could “Let Their Light Shine,” in art, in faith, and in community!
