Urban Ventures Film Academy

The last 8 weeks with the Urban Ventures Film Academy has been one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. We’ve discussed everything from camera angles and storyboards, to the best anime series, to the state of world we live in. One of the best aspects of teaching this class has been listening and learning from the students, allowing them the creative space to try different ideas and concepts, to open up and be themselves.
There’s a particular type of joy in watching a shy high school kid go from being distant and cautious, to directing improv skits and leading discussions. I hope that the students of the UVFA learned nearly as much as I’ve learned from them in this journey. This has been an amazing experience and I look forward to the next chapter and continuing our sessions in 2018!
