FFA Art Camp

By Seth Luchemos – Camp Director

We had a wonderful and impactful week of Art Camp at FFA (Friends Fellowship Assembly) Buruburu, where a total of 78 students participated in various creative and leadership-building activities. The theme “Let Your Light Shine” guided the spirit of the entire week, encouraging students to express their talents confidently and positively.

Music – The music class had an amazing journey. Returning students enhanced their keyboard and ukulele skills, while new students began their musical journey. In addition to instrumental learning, the students explored songwriting and, using the week’s theme, wrote and recorded an original song titled “Let Your Light Shine”. It was inspiring to witness their creativity and teamwork come alive through music.

Arts and Craft – This class was vibrant and full of hands-on activities. Students worked on projects such as: paper-mâché, drawing and painting, beaded necklaces and hand wristbands.
The students’ artistic expressions beautifully reflected the theme, and their confidence in trying new techniques grew steadily.

Dance – The dance class attracted the largest number of students. To ensure personalized attention and fun engagement, students were divided into two groups. This arrangement sparked friendly competition, teamwork, and lots of energetic performances. It was led entirely by our assistant mentors who, for the first time, took full responsibility for the sessions — an exciting milestone for their growth!

Photography/Video – Students in the photography and video class documented the camp week, capturing memorable moments and producing wonderful edited content. It was impressive to see them develop both technical and storytelling skills, working independently and creatively under the guidance of assistant mentors.

Showcase – The week culminated in a Sunday showcase where students presented their projects to parents, friends, and the church community. Highlights included: a display of artwork and photographs, musical performances, dance showcases, and students leading the entire church service — from singing, MC-ing, ushering, and preaching! The students’ leadership, courage, and creativity truly reflected the light within them, living out Matthew 5:14-16 in action.
